This opal ring was created by hand from sterling silver, using the lost wax method. I first molded the setting in wax, allowing the structure to develop freely and intuitively. As a result, the form is not perfect or symmetrical, but organic and full of natural breaks.
The setting resembles the surface of a rock, the bark of a tree or natural veins of stone. Instead of smooth lines there is a texture, which gives the whole thing a raw, authentic character. As a result, the ring looks like an object found in a wild forest – real, unembellished and firmly rooted in nature.
In the center I set a natural, uncut Australian opal. The stone has a milky blue base, on which delicate reflections of blue appear in the light. The opal reacts to the movement of the hand and changes depending on the angle of view, so it attracts the eye, but does not dominate the form. I left it in its original shape to preserve its natural beauty and authenticity.
This opal ring is not perfect in the technical sense – and that is precisely its strength. The visible texture, irregular line and trace of handwork make every detail tell the story of the creation process. This is jewelry where texture, material and stone matter, not perfect repetition.
